Mike Lowell Proving Just How Terrible He Is

Mike Lowell has been proving to all of Red Sox Nation just how terrible a player he is and how he is not worth what they are paying him. In 43 AB this spring he is hitting 256 which is lower than all but 5 players with that many AB 3 of which won't even make the spring roster. He has hit 1 homer and Adam Stern, the Rookie Right Fielder has hit 3 and he played in the Classic! On the field, he hasn't gotten the chance to prove himself as he has appeared at 3B only 15 times but Billy Mueller could both field and hit at the same time. Sox fans will never forget the night that he hit 2 grandslams one from each side of the plate. He is the ONLY player in MLB history to do that. Lowell...well he pulled the hidden ball trick on someone last year which is a bush league play and doesn't make him look very good in the eyes of the opposing teams. Both the Red Sox website and the Boston Globe have covered his spring problems and I will be writing an article featuring some of those quotes as soon as I track them down. I am wondering why we of got this Marlins holdout who was only on the market because the Fish were having a firesale and getting rid of everyone that they didn't want including two other now Red Sox, Josh Beckett and Alex Gonzalez one of whom isn't healthy all the time so he could be on the DL sooner rathere than later and the other one hits worse than Lowell does. Lowell was included in the deal because the Sox wanted something else for Hanley Ramriez but because he was just a prospect, the Fish offered Lowell. Wake Up Sox Nation: HE WASN'T THE MAJOR PART OF THE DEAL HE WAS THE EQUIVALENT OF A PLAYER TO BE NAMED LATER OR CASH
More to come on Lowell after I find those quotes and after he starts playing when it counts but don't expect much of this guy. Theo, please call the Dodgers and see whether we can't trade him and a prospect for Mueller

Lowell a required part of the deal in order for the Marlins to let go of Beckett. Texas wanted the Marlins to pay some of Lowell's salary, and that is why they didn't trade with Texas. Boston was able to pick up the salary, and thus were able to land Beckett. They just hope that Lowell returns to form.

Not only that, but the Red Sox, after seeing just how he started off this year's spring training, went out and got Hee Sop Choi from the Dodgers off of waivers in case they needed to bench Lowell, eat his contract, and flip Youklis back over to third base. As far as giving Lowell and a prospect to the Dodgers for Billy Mueller, put yourself in the position of their GM. Why? Why in the name of god would you take on a $18 million two year contract, and an unproven prospect, when you already have Mueller at third base for less money

Lowell brought his average up to .327 the last week of spring training.

false hope? hope not. would be nice if he gets his act together and this had nothing to do with the juice.

He just hit a homer in his first game

The only way he could ever get back to the way he was is by pumping up with some barroids. move pena to first and youkilis to third, then kick lowell in the nuts and get him out of here.

He's not looking too sucky right now -- that was a fine double.

Mike Lowell is the man... why? Cause the Red Sox were willing to eat his salary to get Josh Beckett, a young pitcher who could win a Cy Young in his career. As long as he fields well, doesn't get in anyones way and doesn't get Papi addicted to smack the Red Sox made out in the deal.

He looked damn fine today (4/11).

after 2day 4/11, things are looking good and i am just smiling thinking about how pissed steinbrenner must be that the wanks didn't land beckett.. i'll be pleasantly surprised if lowell returns to form, but he looked good today and he was worth it to land beckett... i hope.

To highlight a few points.
1) You are completely wrong about there being any connection to Lowell and Hanley Ramirez being included in the deal. Lowell was included to dump salary.

2) Teams cannot trade a free agent before June 15 of the year he was signed. Knowing this rule will eliminate a great deal of stupid fan trade proposals.

He's batting 2.77 with 9 Doubles.
Not liting the world on far, but far far from deserving a website called "Mikelowellsucks.com"

Wow, I can't type. "Not lighting the world on fire" is what I meant to say.

You should really get a life. Who really sucks here? Mike lowell who makes millions of dollars a year, or the person running this site who is trying to live his life vicariously through the misfortunes of a gold glove 3rd baseman.

In the month of April he had a .318BA with 2HR, 12RBI and 11 doubles, which is good for 1st place (tied with M. Young) in baseball.

For an insignificant part of the Beckett deal, hes doing pretty damn good.

2 for 2 with 2 doubles. I'd be pissed if I were a Marlins fan. Then again, regardless of Mike Lowell I'd be pissed if I were a Marlins fan.

Gold Glove Defense
.333 Average
2 Home Runs
16 RBI
14 Runs Scored
13 Doubles (leads the majors)
1:1 K to BB ratio
1 nifty and timely stolen base

Man, this Mike Lowell guy sucks!

good thing you paid money for that domain name huh?? Though it probably cost the same as a marlins ticket because they suck so bad.

There are plenty of grossly overpaid players to complain about but Lowell isn't one of them. As of May 8th:

.339 BA
.402 OBP
17 Runs Scored
17 2B

He's seems to be doing an adequate job when compared to some of his AL counterparts (A-Fraud and Beltre, in particular).
